“I started using NeoGenesis products when radiation treatment started, and my nurses were amazed… My skin would peel but it never got to the point where it would blister or scab. I was using Recovery Spray and Oralease for the inside of my mouth and they were amazed that I didn’t have any sores inside my mouth. I’m excited to get back to living life and I owe a lot of that to NeoGenesis.” – Tom G.

RADIATION (HEAD AND NECK CANCER)

Head and neck cancer is a type of cancer that affects the mouth, throat, nose, sinuses, salivary glands, and other areas located in the head and neck region. Radiation therapy is one of the common treatment options for this type of cancer. While radiation therapy can be effective in killing cancer cells and shrinking tumors, it also has some side effects to be aware of.

One of the most common side effects of radiation therapy for head and neck cancer is dry mouth or xerostomia. This occurs when the salivary glands in the mouth are damaged, leading to a decrease in saliva production. This can make it difficult to chew, swallow, and talk, which can significantly impact a patient’s quality of life. Dry mouth can also increase the risk of tooth decay and infections in the mouth.

Another side effect is mucositis, which is inflammation and irritation of the mucous membranes lining the mouth, throat, and esophagus. This can cause pain, difficulty swallowing, and even bleeding. Mucositis can make it challenging to eat and drink, leading to weight loss and malnutrition.

Radiation therapy can also cause skin changes in the treated area, such as redness, dryness, and peeling. This can be uncomfortable and may require special skincare during treatment. In some cases, radiation therapy may also lead to hair loss in the treated area. For head and neck cancer patients, this can include hair loss on the scalp or face.

Oncology treatment clients can benefit from using NeoGenesis skincare products. Our products are specially formulated to address the unique needs of clients undergoing cancer treatments, such as dryness, irritation, and damage to the skin barrier function. Using NeoGenesis products can help maintain healthy, hydrated skin throughout the treatment journey.
